Irani Cafe Run

So, one fine day a few of my friends along with me, decide to spend an entire day to discover the Irani Cafes and relish the feel of Old Bombay. This craving lead to a night out and we called an uber early in the morning at 4:30 am. After a beautiful long drive through the free way, we reach on our first stop: B. Merwan, Grant Road.

Our next stop post Kyani & Co was Café Military but unfortunately it was closed. So Yazdani Bakery it was next.

Located right on the road, there was absolutely no one when we reached. Basic wooden tables & long benches were empty. Big loafs of breads were being cut into slices in what looked like a really old machine. All the bread crumbs were collected in a bag attached on the opposite side of the automated cutter. The place smelled heavenly cause of the fresh breads being baked.

1. Reach early – The early bird gets the Mawa Cake. It’s as simple as that. B. Merwan is known for its Mawa Cakes. In fact, I would call them the Amitabh Bachchan of Mawa Cakes. Simple, subtle and light. These cakes probably have a bit of heaven stuffed inside them
