Tasty Trails – The Food Truck.

IMG-20160105-WA0027

If Hollywood’s ace action director Michael Bay was big time foodie, the scene from the Transformers series would’ve been something like this:

The autobots clan led by Optimus Prime is all set to take down the Decepticons leader Megatron. Ironhide and Bumblebee spring into action. A volley of rockets were launched with some massive gunfire and then Prime tears apart the chest of Megatron with his mighty dagger and extinguishes his spark. The Decepticons fall. The autobots transform themselves and drive back to the city in disguise. That very evening, Optimus Prime, the food truck sets itself up on a busy street and it begins selling some delicious burgers, sandwiches and fries.

If Bumblebee would’ve been a food truck instead of a Chevrolet Camaro, it would’ve been a replica of Tasty Trails!

Tasty trails is a bright yellow food truck stationed right outside Croma (the electronics store) in Mahavir Nagar, Kandivali. You’ll spot it there everyday between 7 pm and 11 pm. Its too attractive to not grab one’s attention. Continue reading

Loco Chino, Fort, Mumbai

Loco Chino invited me for a round of tasting at their fort outlet. My father is a Mexican food lover and this was the best chance for him to debut in a tasting session alongside his otherwise experienced son (as far as food tasting is concerned :P). He picked me up from near the Churchgate station and we headed towards the Loco Chino outlet with the aid of the Google Maps lady. Here is my take on: Continue reading

Out Of The Blue

his was my second visit to the place and it was in sync with my first visit.

Kicking it off, first came the Minestrone Soup. One portion was ordered first in the standard Indian of 1 by 2. And contrary to the general 3/4th bowl of soup, it actually was 1/2. It was quite delicious and hence, we asked for another portion again in the same manner. Surprisingly, this time the bowls were almost filled to the brim and this one seemed a lot more tastier than the previous one. I leave it up to the audience to reach to a conclusion. Zobble

Bang on time arrived the parcel!
A Chicken Burrito Bowl and Nachos with beans.

Well packed and presented. The first look was quite impressive.

Nachos and Beans:
Nice crispy chips. However, they tasted and smelt like Senor Peppito chips. I see what you did there Zobble 😉 Nevertheless, the refried beans didn’t seem right out of some can. Well prepared and it made a good combo with the chips.Decent stuff for 50 bucks. Continue reading

Bombay Blues (Phoenix Market City)

Bombay Blues has been a part of Mumbai since those days when it was called “Bombay” (I still prefer calling it Bombay). This chain is decades old and it belongs to the same group that owns Cream Center, New Yorkers, Copper Chimney, etc. Back in school, the day exams got over, the whole group used to have lunch at Bombay Blues. It was somewhat a tradition. This time, we were a group of around 20 to 25 people. We had had a fantastic Bowling session in the mall. Lifting those 10 pound balls required an effort and at the end of the game, we were all extremely hungry. There was a 25 minute waiting period in Cream Center. Exactly above cream center, we saw this Bombay Blue outlet which had the tables ready to accommodate all of us. No second thoughts were given. We went in and took our seats. Here is my take on: Continue reading

Cream Centre, Lower Parel.

Cream Centre has been a part of Mumbai since much more than a couple of decades now. What I remember is that I had my first exposure to Italian and Mexican cuisine over here. Also, this is the first place where I had the Sizzling Brownie with ice cream speaking of which, I can recollect that significantly burnt tongue. It was a consequence of taking the first bite in haste. As an aftermath, the taste buds of my tongue were numbed for quite many days. In all these many years of its existence, this iconic place has had its own share of highs and lows. In the wake of severe competition, I see them struggling and striving hard for survival. It was a random weekday lunch plan with some awesome newly made friends right before our training session. Here is my take on:

Smaaash…!!!

The guy gang decided to meet up on a weekday, post working hours. Since most of them work around lower parel, we decided to meet up at smaaash. The sports freaks were in a mood to thrash some of the legendary international bowlers and even get beaten by their mind-blowing deliveries. We were a group of 7 and we called for all the food while playing 2 hours of cricket. Here is my take on:

Todi Mill Social

IMG-20150611-WA0098

I have heard a lot about Colaba Social but I haven’t got a chance to visit the place. The Todi Mill Social and Colaba Social belong to the same outfit. We, the college gang decided to catch up after a long long time. Here is my take on:

The Ambience: The entrance to this place is an Orange door, which basically is a huge container. The person at the desk will check you in after stamping your hand “Todi pe mil”. Step out of this container and you will surround yourself in the euphoria. Loud, foot tapping music, a very busy bar counter and a sprawling area to accommodate many such groups who come with the agenda of simply chilling. Continue reading

Offside Lounge

20150520_202019

This place holds a special place in my heart. The story that I am gonna pen down over here is one of a kind and I can bet, you won’t get to read such a story for a long long time.

Offside is located very close to the famous “Chakli Circle” of Vadodara. This place is spread out on the first floor of Kanchan Building. A question might have just popped up “Why is this guy making this review so unnecessarily detailed?”. Kanchan building’s first floor used to belong to my cousin’s family. We’ve had beautiful memories in that house. Every summer vacation, we used to visit Vadodara and stay there. A few years back, this very building was proposed to be commercialised and the residents rehabilitated themselves. Our primary motive of visiting this place was to sit and have a meal in that very house where we have had a million beautiful memories and flow in the river of nostalgia. Structurally, nothing had changed. We entered from the “Computer room”. Our cousin’s room was converted into a kitchen and we took seat in their “Dada-dadi” room. Continue reading
